The issue which Meek Mill raised on the subject of writing spirit in the rap industry, has become a prominent theme in hip-hop. We all knew that celebs like Dr. Dre, Diddy are looking for people to compose their words, but hearing Meek accuse Drake, one of the most prominent and boastful solo artists of all time, places doubt on all artiste claims. Cardi B, being a woman, will unconsciously deal with ghostwriting claims due to the prevailing gender bigotry among hip-hop fans. The fuss over New York rapper Pardison Fontaine’s role in “Be Careful” has worsened the situation.
Cardi B, in her natural self, said she did not care what people think. Explaining the “Be Careful” in April, she said she liked the record and wanted it. Then she said, “what you need to do is ask your favorite rappers about their ghostwriters.”
Yesterday, she increased her voice on the issue during the luncheon of her Fashion Nova, announcing in mid-performance that “all these rappers got writers. Even the ones that were saying they don’t, they lying b*tch!” She may have been forced to make this statement because her enemy, Nicki Minaj has repeatedly attack Cardi over rumors of her alleged use of ghostwriters. Cardi B, however, replied that: “even if I didn’t write it or if I did, I’m still gon get paid.”
